THE GUN THAT KILLED

20 000 000

FN BROWNING MOD.1910

cal 7.65

28 june 1914

2 shots out of a Belgian made FN Browning model 1910 ... the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife Sophie was a sad event that dramatically changed the course of history.

Unleashing a nightmare without precedent and causing the death of more than 20 000 000 people....

The Great War...

Born and raised in Flanders Fields, Frank Pletinckx

was since childhood intrigued by the cruel history of his neigbourhood.

This pistol is his unique interpretation to commemorate the Great War Centenary.

The action and grip are decorated with 24 carat Swiss

gold inlaid poppies conceived in art nouveau style, current at the time, on a background of fine english scrolls, to honour the British sacrifices..

The grip plates are oxydized 925 sterling silver bas- reliefs, depicting skulls between mechanical innovations which had never before been seen in warfare - barbed wire, aeroplanes, armoured cars, tanks and machine guns..

The horrible gas attacks are represented by a silver gasmask on a gold inlaid stylised gas cloud.

The flemish walnut presentation box has been given an vintage 'trench' look.
